Theme: Business Ethics and the Future of Capitalism
IVBEC 2025 invites scholars and participants to explore and examine “The Future of Capitalism.” Important questions include, but are not limited to: How might the rise of right-wing governments throughout the world and the repression of free speech affect the operation of capitalism? Capitalistic innovation has given us Artificial Intelligence (AI), but is AI a threat to job creation, innovation, and growth, all matters typically thought to be benefits of free market capitalism? Is it even possible to think rigorously about the future of capitalism? More generally, how should we be thinking the future, and what are possible traps in trying to understand unfolding trends and developments? Is there a single future or multiple futures? If we can comprehend the future to some extent, how, if at all, should this understanding alter individuals’ practical attempts to live a thriving life and communities’ efforts to secure justice for of all of their members?
Papers do not have to be specifically on this theme, but IVBEC organizers always encourage authors to relate their arguments to the conference theme if and when doing so is appropriate.
Keynote speakers from academia and business will examine some of these pressing questions at this conference.
